The most common question asked is , “Does my AC need to be charged with Freon, and if so how often?” This is a great question and has a very simple answer… NO! Your AC should not need Freon unless there is a leak! If you have a company coming out and charging you for Freon , then that is a RED FLAG! If you are ever charged for Freon then you should also be charged for repairing the Freon leak. What is a SEER Rating ?

A great place to start when looking at new air conditioning units is the SEER rating. The SEER rating is extremely important to understand and research as most HVAC companies out there will try to get you to purchase the highest SEER rated unit! But beware, the highest SEER is also the highest price! What does SEER mean? SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. It measures the annual energy consumption and efficiency of the units cooling ability in typical day-to-day use.

If the SEER rating is HIGH, it means that unit will use less energy when in use. In chino and surrounding area, by CA law, southern CA new install must be a SEER 14 or higher. Prior to 2006, the law was a SEER 10 or higher. So if you had your AC installed prior to 2006, you might really benefit from a new system, just on the energy savings!
